Gabrielle… A NATURAL BEAUTY (beyond her years)

This 15 year old beauty was just so sweet to work with and her mom was such a hoot. She let me do my THING and brought some pretty cool photos of her and her mom when she turned 15 and had her quinceanera photos taken. Mom really wanted a different twist on the typical quinceanera portrait session. So, this is what we came up with.

Mom was just so happy to be there and complimentary of the studio and my work. I was beyond flattered to work with them and really did not want them to leave. It is interacting with people like them that remind me how much I LOVE WHAT I DO! Thank you for making my day ladies. You were both wonderful!

Miss Karlie

One Year…

I cannot believe it! It seems like I just completed her newborn session. She looks so different to me from her newborn photos. This is the babe of a great friend of mine. I have been photographing them for many years now. They had to wait patiently before being blessed with these little ones so it is even more exciting to get my hands on them. I have to say that little Karlie gave me a RUN FOR MY MONEY or should I say THEIR MONEY. Anyhow, there are several and since Karlie was a bit GUN SHY throughout the session I just wanted to show mom a few so she would not worry. Oh….and her clothes were to die for. Very good choice mom….and Grandma Diane.

Destiny…

I am nursing a bit of strep throat today and trying to get well before I leave town again on Thursday. I came across this quote and fell in love with what it really meant. I just thought I would keep it short and sweet today. I LOVE THIS!

“Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice: It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” ~ William Jennings Bryan

Baby Dylan…

Just wanted to share one of these for now from yesterday’s session. He was such a little sweetie! We tried several things with this special glove of Dad’s and this is what I came up with. I love how it turned out and know that it was important to him so hopefully he loves the image as much as I do.

Sharing Some From My Phoenix Sessions…

I thought I would share a few images from some of my sessions in Phoenix a few weeks ago. I had a blast there and the weather was unbelievable. I loved photographing this family and will be heading back to Phoenix before long for more sessions.

This is the Moore Family. I photographed them about 5 years ago when I was in Phoenix and since then the girls have grown into beautiful young women and mom still looks younger than ever.

Baby Lillian…

Need I say more????

I will tell you that I wish more newborn parents would show more skin. I LOVE skin on skin with new babies and these images show exactly why. I will also tell you that this little 6 pounder really gave me a run for my money. It took several hours to get these images but once again patience paid off. I LOVE this couple. Their love for each other and for Baby Lillian is quite apparent. I also LOVE those COWBOY BOOTS… SERIOUSLY LOVE THEM!!!

re•ju•venate (ri jo̵̅o̅′və nāt′)

Rejuvenated: re•ju•venate (ri jo̵̅o̅′və nāt′) transitive verb -•nat′•ed, -•nat′•ing 1.a.to make feel or seem young again; bring back to youthful strength, appearance, etc. b. to make seem new or fresh again.

Ahhhhh, that’s me. I am on a new path at this time of inner peace, learning, growing, harmony, and yes…rejuvenation. LIFE IS GOOD! I am grateful. At this time in our Nation there is a great deal of craziness going on and I can either let it stress me out or move beyond it and see how I can turn things into a positive for myself and my family. How can we benefit from this economic crisis? Have we just been living beyond our means? Are there sacrifices we can make and still pretty much live the same lifestyle? Or is a change in lifestyle and priorities something that should be given a closer look? Is it possible that if we as Americans analyze for a moment our actual needs versus our wants and desires that we could come out ahead of the game once all of this dust settles?

How are we going to choose to handle this National challenge and is it possible that we could consider for just a moment all of the many Nations starving to death and dying of Aids, the orphaned children, the disgusting drinking water, the living conditions of children in garbage dumps, the women that are not allowed to go to school and educate themselves, the little girls forced into marriage before they are even teenagers, the genocide, the war casualties and so many other unthinkable things around our globe? I am not trying to minimize our financial situation here. I am simply trying to change the focus of what many think is the worst situation ever to happen to America. I know and understand that our current economy is in a very scary place. Like many of you out there I too have investments. We have lost thousands of dollars in the stock market over the past few months overall and the thought of our retirement going down the drain is definitely disheartening and quite scary to say the least. However, I believe very strongly that it WILL bounce back and we will come out of this okay. I actually think we will come out further ahead if the right choices are made.

I realize that it is very stressful to turn on the news everyday and see what the latest negative message is from our media. I try not to take it to heart because negativity is what our media thrives on. It does not matter whether you are turning on your local, state, or national news. They love to report on the negative. They love to report on crisis rather than those that are still seeing abundance, those that are doing amazing things for other human beings, or those that have turned their misfortune into a positive.

I have had the pleasure of traveling to places less fortunate than the United States and I have seen what true poverty is. I feel extremely blessed each time I look at the images captured from that experience. I remember the filth on the bodies of little ones and grown men urinating right in the street. I remember seeing raw sewage running down pathways and homes made out of pieces of cardboard, scraps of metal and stray wood in a refugee camp. I remember trash everywhere and kids with no shoes walking in it. Once you have been to a third world country you do not worry as much about whether you may have to cut back on spending a bit or whether you have to stay home from that trip “Up North” or out of State.

We are still so blessed to be Americans and to have a roof over our heads. Life is Good! Our life as Americans is GOOD! We live in an amazing country and have the power to change our destiny if we want to. There is a huge element of free will that we as Americans have due to the fact that we live in a free society. The question is how HARD are we willing to WORK to change OUR DESTINY and that of our FAMILY? Great things do not always come easily and rarely do. How much are we willing to give? We are still a great nation and have the true ability and intelligence to be absolutely amazing. We are OH SO BLESSED and must remember that and stop knocking down our country, our president, our government, each other. Use this time to make positive changes in your lifestyle, your family, your schedules, your finances, your work ethic, your priorities, your FUTURE and how much you GIVE BACK to others. You might just find out that it was all for the best. You might just end up more ON TOP than you ever were before! Your business might just be more fruitful. Your family might be happier and your life overall more prosperous. One thing is for sure if nothing else…YOU WILL LEARN AND GROW THROUGH ALL OF IT. YOU WILL COME OUT OF IT A MUCH STRONGER AND EVEN MORE AMAZING HUMAN BEING than you were before and THAT in and of ITSELF will be WORTH IT!

Thanks for taking the time to read this!

~Niki

Master “J”

Check out this handsome little guy and his parents. This family was great to work with. They were EASY going and mom did an awesome job of just standing back and letting me do my thing. At one point I saw her standing in the dressing room and peeking over through the window so that Little Mr. “J” would not see her and get distracted. I wish I would have gotten a shot of mom doing that because it was super cute. Anyhow, a beautiful family indeed and they are doing something right because this little guy was really easy to work with and a very happy baby. Enjoy!

Loved These Beauties!

These three little girls were all just stunning. They each had their very own personality and were so fun to work with. Their hair, eyes and cute little faces were great to capture. When I photograph little ones I always like to get smiles and fun but I am a softy for those dreamy little “Sweet Faces” that do not need to do anything but just “BE.” Those are the images I tend to enlarge and put on my walls. I just adored these beauties! I told mom she should go for a boy. Can you even imagine how beautiful HE would be?
