Oh me and my constant deep thinking. It is what I do all of the time. Lately the wheels in my head have just been spinning away. It is a good thing though. This past couple of months have been a time of personal growth and endless reflection. I find myself striving to be better and better at what I do personally and professionally. I feel that with my photography I am absolutely a perfectionist. I want only the best work leaving my studio. My business has grown to the point of being booked several months in advance and that is a huge blessing, especially when I live in an area of the United States that is not exactly thriving right now where the economy is concerned. Again, I am truly blessed to be doing what I love and make a living doing it.
I met with my Pastor recently and we discussed many things, one of which I will share with you. He told me something that is sticking with me wherever I go. He said, “Niki, EXCELLENCE BREEDS EXCELLENCE. If you continue to provide excellent work to your clients, people of excellence will be drawn to you and your work.”
Oh my goodness! I JUST LOVE THAT! Think about it for a minute if you will. If you focus on being EXCELLENT, doing your very best, then people of excellence will be drawn to you. It is kind of like the law of attraction. This is true for our personal lives as well as our professional lives. I do not know about all of you who read this blog, but I am definitely a Christian. The bible says to do our very best in everything that we do. It also says that the Lord will make room for our gifts. How cool is that? If you have been reading my blog lately you know I focus a lot of finding what you love and making that a reality in your life. Why, because that is what you were meant to do. To find your gifts and use them wisely to the Glory of GOD. The Lord does not want us to do a SO-SO job in this life or any other. He doesn’t want us to fly under the radar and just get by. He wants our very best. He wants us to be motivated in our efforts to give of ourselves with our gifts to this world and the people in it. He wants us to bless others.
Am I being the best mom that I can be? The best business woman? The best wife? The best friend? The best human being? The best photographer? Again, I have some work to do. I work very hard at some of these areas while I see others suffer as a result. So, that being said. You also have to find balance and decide what is really important. I would rather try and fail than never put myself out there and GO FOR IT! Sometimes pride and fear can get in the way of our trying, but I have to agree with the quote that says, “It is better to have tried and failed than to never have tried at all.”
There is always room for improvement. We are not expected to be PERFECT in this life, but we are expected to try our hardest and do our best work. I love to dream, plan for the future, grow, change, and learn. I make mistakes, mess up, get my pride hurt, and allow way too many things to upset me than I should. But, I am always ready to give it another shot when I wake up and GO FOR IT all over again. I have personally had two extremely challenging days in a row. I am up for a new day…AWAKE…HAD MY COFFEE…RAN THREE MILES…AND I AM READY TO GO FOR IT ALL OVER AGAIN. Hopefully, things will go more smoothly today. Hopefully, I can change my attitude towards how I handle myself if it does end up being yet another tough one. In the big scheme of life, none of this is really that big of a deal….RIGHT???
During this holiday season, keep in mind what is really important. I am going to give it my best shot to do that while trying to provide EXCELLENCE to everyone around me. I am always up for a little personal growth while I am at it. I thrive on that. Don’t get caught up in all of the craziness that occurs this time of year. Have a great Thanksgiving and safe travel wherever it may take you.
Thank you to all of you who have posted comments and those of you who have been emailing with personal thoughts about the things you are reading and seeing on here. I appreciate the feedback greatly.
